Camera Accessories: Buying Your First Canon Digital SLR Lens - Which Lens is Right for You
Buy a Canon EOS digital SLR camera involves more than one decision. Yes To get the right camera is an important determination, but you're not done yet. Now you must choose the right Canon Digital SLR lens.
It was probably a research and decision making just to decide on the right Canon EOS camera, right? As you study the problem, you realize that there is a great medley of lentils, literally hundreds of them. And you are not limited to just Canon lenses, there are others who create lenses for Canon EOS cameras as well.
Therefore, what would you choose?
The possibility that you can just pick up the package that has what is known as a kit lens. And yes, there are even packages that have two or more sets of lenses. Then there would be no decision.
But few lenses for your digital SLR is half the fun of owning a camera like this.
Some first time digital SLR owners fret over this decision for days, weeks and months. If you go online to some of the camera forums, you will see how completely involved some photographers in lens selection. Sometimes it's a little extreme.
But the truth is, you want to make sure you get a lens that will serve your photography needs with the best quality images possible.
Now before we go any further, let's take this question: "Why not just get the kit lens? "It was alluded to above, and the answer is simple. You can buy the kit lens and be quite happy with it. Lots of doing it. But it is just not the best lens made for a Canon EOS digital SLR camera. Its goal is to have a lens on the camera so you can get started taking pictures right out of the box. Maybe you're thinking what a lot of people do. Buy the camera body alone, without the kit lens. Then you have the freedom to get a lens of your choice separately from the kit lens.
Here are several questions that will help you narrow down the field.
1st What's in your wallet?
When you answer this one, you can not get to answer any of those consequences. If funds are limited to just a camera with kit lens, you're done. If this is not case and you are able to use some of your budget on a lens or two, you're ready to proceed with the questions.
2. What is your favorite photographic genre?
You probably have a preference for the types of images you choose to catch. This usually happens before you buy a digital SLR. Normally, a zoom lens with a focal length of 18-70mm, give or take a few millimeters will work if you take lots of snapshots of the family. But if nature, sports or portraits are your favorite types of images ranges you think will be very different.
3. Will you be buying more than one lens for this new Canon digital SLR?
During a full range of lens choice in your camera bag is actually one of the main reasons many people move from a point and shoot camera to a digital SLR camera at first. With an extra lens or two in mind, starting with a zoom lens with a range of about 17-75mm. Then Add to dangle a 70-200mm, or even a 70-300mm lens. The worst case scenario is that you're on a limited budget and you make the wrong choice for your first Canon camera lens.

were can i find a good bag that holds an SLR camera and a pair of lenses?
I am looking to get a bag or something that will hold my Nikon and a few lenses. I usually just put them all in my school bag, and it's not really practical or safe for lenses and camera. Looking for something that was done to keep SLR along with a few lenses, flash, etc. Can anyone give me links to some good? Something that has protection in case you lose the bag. And I have a D300, so it has to to be quite roomy.
Almost every store that sells cameras sells bags, too. I got mine at Best Buy. It is a Lowepro, and hold my camera with a lens on it and room for 4 additional lenses or flash and 3 lenses. It was about $ 79, and well padded. It has a handle on top and also a very sturdy shoulder strap. They also had some backpack style bags, but I did not want this type.
