Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit for Photo and Video Upload
There are a few things missing from the Apple iPad still remains a mystery and paramount among them is the omission of a digital card reader. Digital photography has exploded in recent years and now has almost all access to a camera of any kind, whether a stand-alone camera or a cell phone. Anyone who can afford an iPad will almost certainly have access to a digital camera of any kind. You would think with a device that iPad would be a multi-card reader including, Apple, Inc. has seen it fit to leave it, possibly leaving it for a future upgrade function. Did anyone say iPad 2?

What they have done even is to create a market for (unfortunately) relatively expensive solutions to the "vacuum" created by Apple's omission. One of them is Apple iPad Connection Kit.
This iPad camera connection kit lets you import pictures and videos through the USB cable (Not included) or directly through the popular SD card. As such, the set of two connectors: (1) Camera USB Connector (2) SD Card Reader.
The camera connector allows connection to a video camera to upload videos to iPad and SD card reader makes transferring photos from your digital camera for storing and viewing on the iPad. Both Use iPad dock inserts for synchronization.
The SD card reader, after you attach the SD card connection kit to iPad, insert the SD card and iPad's photo app will generate thumbnails (Which unfortunately is not adjustable in size), and you can then choose which ones to import. You can not enlarge and inspect the preview before deciding whether to import and if you have many images on the card, and you just want to quickly show someone, it becomes quite cumbersome.
A huge plus is support for both JPEG and RAW files. The JPEG format is compressed with the white balance, sharpness, saturation, brightness, contrast and other adjustments made by the camera's internal software. Professional photographers use large RAW files to edit pictures from the bottom of their preference. These files have no compression or camera adjustments, so to be able to view these files on the iPad is a bonus for photo aficionados. After all is said and done the unit (s) does its job well, so you can save your files for future use.
SD card slot would be a perfect "in box 'device, so you can store your photos on the iPad and then when you go home and fix the iPad to your computer, you can transfer files for editing. If you do not is a pro, and you just want to store the images on your iPad, the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit is also perfect for you.

Have digital cameras all have a connection for professional lighting?
I am interested in a home studio lighting kit, just to start playing around and get a feel for it. I look around, talk to some photographers on the costs and do, but my question is ... If external lighting plug in the camera itself? In that case, it's like a universal connection or will I have to make sure my camera is compatible with a certain type of lighting equiptment? What do I need? I have a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS. Any information would be appreciated:) I'm talking about external lighting, such as the flash goes off that is facing the umbrella. I'm new to all this, sorry lol. I understand that the lamps can be standalone, using filters to soften or sharpen the light. I'm talking about using a flash that is not directly or initally attached to the camera.
I guess you have to define for us what you think of having a connection to (for) professional lighting. If professional lighting, I assume you mean the studio flash units since the "other professional lighting, glowing, the need for connection to the camera). In this case, there are a number of ways a photographer can connect the camera to sync with the flashes. 1) using an RC device as a Pocket Wizard attached to the cameras hot shoe and the other Pocket Wizard connected to Speedlights power supply, 2) connect a PC to connect to either PC connector the camera or to a hot shoe adapter with a PC connector on it. The other type of physical connection, sometimes called tethering, is pretty clumsy and could cause accidents if these wires are stumbling.
