Digital Wildlife Photography Basics Tutorial

Even the most experienced photographers will find taking pictures of wildlife a challenge. To get the best pictures, tricks of the trade need to be learned and practiced before venturing into the field. Setting up your equipment and framing your shots to be done quickly. One way to practice set-up and framing can be done by taking photos in your own yard and / or local parks for your own animals (if you have them). With your own animals, you have the opportunity to study their behavior at close team and personal, so you can then predict what will happen next. Ultimately, the more knowledge you have about your topic, especially in the case of animals, the better images, you get. Here are some tips on how to get the best shots of animals [and birds] in nature:

Before explaining that, taking practice images of moving targets. By to learn to pan the camera to capture a moving target, it will allow you to get the best possible shots.

Always keep your camera ready - Unexpected things can happen when you're out in nature. If you use a digital camera, make sure it has enough memory and is fully charged. Ensure you have batteries on hand is also a must.

Before they arrive at your destination, get familiar with what kind of animals or birds you can expect to find there. By doing this, you can then take the time to go there to learn everything you can about that particular wildlife. Having this knowledge will help you anticipate both how to look after your scheduled goals and what type of behavior you expect from them.

Once you've reached your destination, make sure to go and go quietly, as you looking for animals and birds to photograph. By learning to be immobile, you ensure that your presence doesn 't scare or threaten wildlife around you.

Use all your senses and be as attentive as possible to everything happening around you. Through continuous practice, you can learn to detect movement, unusual colors and sounds and even certain smells that can help you find an animal or bird which has carefully camouflaged themselves. Without these skills, you may find yourself walking right by the wildlife you intend to shoot without noticing it was there. Have an increased awareness of your surroundings when walking to photograph wildlife, can go a long way to improve your experience.

The use of telephoto lenses are a must when shooting wildlife. A telephoto lens is the best thing to have to put yourself in so close as possible to the target without scaring it away. For the same reason, a tripod is not always a necessity. If you 're lucky enough to have a abundance of light and have practiced enough, you will be able to take pictures at a fast shutter speed, and thus eliminate shaking of the camera. You can also invest in a camera is equipped with a telephoto lens that has vibration reduction technology, but remember these are considerably more expensive to buy.

Make sure that when photographing animals and / or birds, you place the sharpest focus on their eyes.

Make a habit of photographing small animals from a lower angle.

The best times of days for both viewing and photographing wildlife are early morning or just before dark, it is at this point where the light is the most dramatic and costly are most active.

Do your best to keep the sun at your back, thus ensuring that the light will fall directly on the subject.

All of the above tips will go a long way to improve your skills as a photographer of nature. The key to the whole thing is practice, practice and more practice. And beyond anything else, enjoy yourself! About the Author

Is there a "generic" lenses for cameras that fit most cameras?

I purchased a Fuji FinePix S1000fd camera several months back and have used the basics of it get adjusted to it. I have read al ot of websites that have "tutorials" and such ... a lot of them are talking about different types of lenses to get different results. I searched a bit online, but did not seem to come up with any specific lenses for my camera. Are there any types of lenses out there that would fit any / most cameras? or are there ways to get the same effect of lenses if your camera will in no way support lens attachment?

Because the camera does not have interchangeable lenses, you can not change the lens on your camera (like on a true SLR camera). Even if it did, every camera brand (Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony, etc.) has its own bayonet. You can not take an Olympus lenses and keep it on the Minolta camera (unless there is some kind of adapter but even then it might not work properly).

How to make an insect collection is a question that bugs many beginners: "I can make an insect collection? How" Scores of high school and college students, together with 4-H and other youth groups, says "this entomological rite of passage," said James R. Carey, a professor of entomology at the University of California, Davis.

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A snapshot is popularly defined as a photograph that is shot spontaneously and quickly, most often without artistic or journalistic intent. Snapshots are commonly considered to be technically imperfect or amateurishout of focus or poorly framed or composed. The term derives from the snap shot of hunting. Common snapshot subjects include the events of everyday life, such as birthday parties and other celebrations; sunsets; children playing; group photos; pets; and the like. The snapshot concept was introduced to the public on a large scale by Eastman Kodak, which produced the Brownie box camera around 1900. Kodak encouraged families to use the Brownie to capture moments in time and to shoot photos without being concerned with producing perfect images. Kodak advertising urged consumers to celebrate the moments of your life and find a Kodak moment. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Timpledon, Miriam T./ Marseken, Susan F.
