Olympus has introduced another tough digital camera with its Stylus 1030SW. They claim it can handle a drop from 6.6 meters a dunk in water 33 feet deep, temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, and crushing weight of up to 220 pounds. 10.1-megapixel 1030SW improves its predecessor, the 770SW, with increased shock absorption capabilities, more resolution, a slightly larger LCD screen, and a further 3.6 x optical zoom.
Sporting a sleek metal body in a variety of Starry Silver, Midnight Black or Metal Pink, waterproof line-up for everyone. Waterproof to 3m, shockproof to 1.5m, and freeze proof to -10 ° C, this camera is ready for bump and bang every day. Coupled with its tough exterior, the μ [mju:] 850 SW boasts a solid 8.0 Mega pixels to ensure flawless capture of every detail. Digital Image Stabilization is also on board to reduce blur. Finally, the camera's least impressive spec: it is freeze proof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Besides being a farm, like most other cameras seem to handle well, managing a mere 14 degrees Fahrenheit is really nothing to brag about everywhere north of the 45th latitude.
Although the 1030 SW has not yet been introduced in the stores (it will debut in early March), Olympus has already announced it To make a $ 399 price tag when it shows up. is any of the "waterproof" digital cameras from companies like Canon, Olympus, etc. .. suitable for diving or do u need a case?
"Waterproof" generally just means that it may take a little rain or Ocean Spray and be ok .. While I've seen some cameras that are cheap and claims to be for underwater purpose, I'm a bit wary of them. They are usually not from reputable camera manufacturers. (Generally, when something looks too good to be true, it usually is.). For great brand names, these are usually a bit expensive. "Waterproof" never means it may be immersed in water. You'll have to get an "underwater" case for your camera, or buy a camera specially designed for underwater use ..
